About
Aqua Lid is a green technology company established in 2018 with focus on water monitoring applications. We believe that deep science will be one of the instruments that will help the world to be greener and more resilient.
After 3 years of research, countless simulations and a series of laboratory experiments we patented method and solution for real time, large scale, and in-situ microplastics evaluation in water.
Microplastics pollution problem
Plastic is the most universal and wide used substance invented by humans so far. Due to sun radiation, water and different mechanical factors plastics turn into smaller plastics particles called microplastics. Once dispersed in the environment microplastics exist for hundreds of years. Air and especially water allow them to travel from one point to the other with ease. The effect of microplastics on all living creatures and especially on aquatic ecosystems is considered as quite negative.

The quantity and scope of microplastics pollution of different water areas is enormous and their removal with existing scientific methods is limited to only a few cubic meters of water. All comprehensive studies of microplastics pollution state that the possible cure for this global hazard are proper regulations and real time prevention measures. Unfortunately, the current method for microplastics evaluation is expensive and extremely time and labor consuming, which makes the creation and implementation of regulations and real time mitigation impossible.

Technology
Aqua Lid has patented method and solution that offers a drastic simplification of the traditional process of microplastics detection and evaluation in water.
By optical setup, specific laser, and proprietary algorithms we evaluate microplastics in real time, on the spot, while processing huge water quantities. This gives a real "picture" for microplastics pollution and makes real time mitigation actions possible.

Our method is capable of:
- Survey real-time, onsite, large water volumes
- Scalable with no specialized laboratory needed
- Affordable with costs just a fraction of current methnod
Current method for microplastics evaluation in water is a complex process involving different participants for sampling, transportation, filtration and separation, visual identification, sizing, and a spectroscopic analysis by FTIR/ RAMAN in the highly specialized laboratory as final step of the process.
Water utilities
Drinking water is subject to strict monitoring all around the world. Existing regulations (EU, from 2024, and CA (USA), from 2023) will allow society to receive greater assurance for the absence of microplastics contamination in drinking water. All parties like water utilities, service providers and regulators involved in water monitoring process could deploy our solution along the water way and to undertake real time actions in case of microplastics contamination.
Industrial
Water is the most used "industrial" material. Water is part of production process in every industry. Most of the industries are required to treat their wastewater to meet strict regulations. We could deploy our solution into wastewater treatment facilities and prevent microplastics discharge into the environment or the sewage system.
Fishery and aquatic cultures are increasing their share of global nutrition and the absence of microplastics pollution in food chain is a must. We could provide fishery and aquatic producers with real time monitoring system that could allow them to guarantee high quality and free of microplastics products to their customers.

Environmental
Aqua Lid could deploy a simple, scalable, and affordable scenario for large scale, real time, on-site microplastics evaluation of open water areas. This will allow policy makers to have a much more accurate real-time data and overview of microplastics pollution and be able to propose well directed policies focused on the entire plastics lifecycle.
